Disambig This article is about the Aether block. For the Theran block, see Thera Grass.

Aether Grass is a block that makes up the surface of the Aether's islands.

Obtaining[ | ]

Aether Grass does not require a shovel to mine it and can be mined with a player's bare hands, however it will not drop itself unless mined with a shovel that has the Silk Touch enchantment.

  1. Times are for unenchanted tools in seconds.
  2. Times in order are the slowest to fastest mining speeds based on the tool's durability.

Natural generation[ | ]

Aether Grass makes up the majority of the Aether's islands, along with Holystone. It can be found all over islands, typically covering the first surface layer before Aether Dirt, and then Holystone.

Aether Grass variants spawn for their own Biomes, which are Arctic Peaks, Magnetic Hills and Irradiated Forests; which are respectively Arctic Grass, Magnetic Grass and Irradiated Grass. The default grass variant for the Highlands biome is Highlands Grass.

Thera also it's own variant of grass named Thera Grass, which can be found in the Necromancer's Tower or purchased from Edison.

Growing[ | ]

Similar to vanilla Minecraft's grass, naturally generated Aether Grass will spread to nearby Aether Dirt blocks if the conditions are correct for it to do so. Aether Grass can also be grown through using any type of Swet Gel on an Aether Dirt block. When the Swet Gel is used, it'll turn the Aether Dirt blocks in a 3x3 radius into Aether Grass.

Usage[ | ]

Aether Grass can be used to grow Aether plants and trees, and breaks at the same speed as Overworld grass. It is not possible to grow any Overworld plants on Aether Grass. Ambrosium Chunks can be right clicked on placed Aether Grass to automatically convert it into Enchanted Aether Grass.

If Bone Meal or Swet Jelly is used on an Aether Grass block, Flowers and Tall Aether Grass have a chance to spawn up to seven blocks away.
