Foods are consumable items that restore hunger points when eaten but also may inflict status effects. They are needed for survival, as going without food will cause the player to starve to death.
Food is eaten by holding the RMB when the food is selected in the hotbar or offhand. Food may not be eaten when the hunger bar is complete full. Most food items stack.
Hunger and Saturation[]
Food has two different stats associated with them, the most apparent is Hunger while the other one is Saturation.
Saturation decreases first when the player performs hunger-draining actions and will be completely drained before hunger begins to drain. Jittering effects of the hunger meter are indications that the saturation level is now zero.
Food restores different amounts of both stats depending on the type of food. Some foods have a higher ratio, if comparing saturation to hunger. High saturation foods should be eaten when the hunger bar is full or nearly full, especially if it starts to shake. Saturation points are wasted if the bar is low.
